ust because they're the same color as military uniforms doesn't mean your ensembles have to take on the same strict dress code. These minimal, neutral outfits can act as a vessel to show off your personal style while making it easier to get dressed. Staying within a color scheme means you can layer your look or even go completely monochromatic. If you are worried that the neutral hues will lack luster and leave you looking boring, here's a few outfits to inspire you. In-Neutral is anything but boring.

ayer, layer, layer, layer, L-A-Y-E-R!!! I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times...use the power of layers. Take a minimal jumpsuit and layer a thin shirt underneath, throw a scarf on, sport some neutral tone boots, and throw a trench coat or shearling coat on over everything for a look that's not boring AT ALL!

M
onochromatic and tailored (read: fits well) outfits are one of the easiest ways to create a look of ladylike luxury. Make sure your pieces are clean, fall in all the right places, and easy enough to move around in (nothing breaks the illusion of elegance more than looking uncomfortable).

W
hen in doubt-wear all black. It's incredibly chic, slimming, and a classic in the "cool girls club."

W
ear different textures, fabrics, and patterns when dressing monochromatic-it adds depth and helps the eye move from piece to piece in your ensemble.

H
ave fun with it! If you're not ready to give up color completely you can wear rust or olive colors. Take the look to the next level with accessories like a big hat or over the knee boots. You don't have to dress minimally to wear neutral tones.

P
laying with proportions and structure can really elevate a mostly monochromatic look. Find pieces that add shape and movement.

L
ayering a thin turtleneck under a neutral colored slip dress in either matching or harmonized tones extends the longevity of your individual pieces throughout the year in your wardrobe.
